What to expect

Join our Spring workshops in the forest: Spoon carving, Besom Brooms & HErbal Foraging Walks

This is a 2 day workshop of seasonal woodland based creative sessions, running from 10:30 am till 5pm, Saturday and Sunday. Over the course of the weekend you will learn the natural craft of spoon-carving from Nick Gosman of The Gosman Spoon Company. You will also have the opportunity to take part in a foraging and identification walk with Sarah Frances. We will gather herbs to make lunchtime preparations and to take home. During the weekend you will also be guided through the process of making a traditional birch besom broom. We will gather round the campfire on both days to share a warming homemade soup and bread.

With a focus on habitat awareness, these small groups are carefully curated. You’ll be immersed within this pristine area of natural beauty with lofty Douglas firs, a spiritual Yew grove, elderly Larch trees, established Elms, ancient coppices of Sweet Chestnut and Hazel, characterful Oaks, fungi & lichen, tranquil birdlife, and the beloved homes of many woodland creatures.

Need to know

Based at White House Farm, Great Glemham, within the stunningly diverse New Wood Hidden Glade. A space to immerse yourself in beautiful surroundings whilst learning bushcraft, identification and other woodland skills.

The price of this weekend is £120 per person. Price includes herbal teas and snacks, lunchtime warming soup and homemade bread, and all materials and tools.

Please wear suitable clothing and sturdy footwear. If you have gardening or building gloves, or a whittling knife and secateurs you may want to bring these. This is an outdoors, woodland focused weekend and we will be moving amongst rough ground, gathering around the fire and working within an outdoor handtool use area. We will be cooking lunch together and eating around the camp fire. Please bring your own food and drinks for any additional dietary requirements.

Please note: This is not a camping event. We will finish and leave site at 5pm on Saturday and meet again at 10 am on Sunday morning to continue workshops.
